Building a good business
Midlands Together is more than just an employer. We aim to make a real difference. We do more than create jobs, we want to employ those who have been socially excluded and help them achieve their potential.
The properties bought by Midlands Together are likely to require substantial repair and refurbishment. They will need to be finished to high standards to add value. Not only does this enable us to provide valuable training it also ensures that when the property is resold we generate a profit to reinvest in the business and keep it sustainable.
Details of some of our projects are shown below.
No:22 Old Walsall Road
The purchase of Hestia House in Birmingham is another significant step for Midlands Together CIC as we continue to build momentum across the Midlands. The scheme here will see the conversion of an empty office block to create 23 studio apartments. The project will be undertaken in partnership with Jericho Construction one of the social enterprises operated by The Jericho Foundation based in Balsall Heath Birmingham.
This end of terrace house in Walsall has been refurbished to a high standard by new partners Inspired Steps CIC. The refurbishment works were completed in a little over five weeks and the property has already been sold, subject to contract, at a figure very close to our asking price. We are keen to develop this partnership and anticipate some great impact to flow from it.
31 St Wulstan's Crescent
Work has now been completed refurbishing this empty bungalow built in the 1960’s. Being conveniently situated next door to our first project in St Wulstan’s Crescent it has offered the perfect opportunity for our existing team to demonstrate their new skills learnt whilst working with our partners ReEnterprises. The project involved upgrading and refurbishment in partnership with Kingsway Build based in Worcester. The property can be seen online and is attracting a good level of interest and praise for the works.
The first project is a conversion of a large detached period house into six apartments. Work started on site early in the 2014 and this represents an ideal opportunity for the first team, working with our partner ReEnterprises based in Worcester, to be involved in a substantial project alongside local building firm Kingsway Build.
